sinigang
It was a relief to sit down to a warm bowl of sinigang after almost 12 hours on the road to Killington. Sinigang is a sour and spicy Filipino soup that can be made with shrimp, pork or beef and lots of vegetables. I usually use mama sita's sinigang mix, but this time I used the Knorr's tamarind soup base.
The packet called for 10 cups of water, but I used 8 cups of water to get an extra sour broth. I also added some crushed red peppers for some heat along with some chopped onions, tomatoes and greens. A side of rice made this a complete meal and put me to bed with a happy and warm tummy.
