I just got back from happy hour at
Cafe Asia with my girl Kris. The happy hour specials were pretty decent. $3 appetizers, $3 rail drinks and $1.25-per-piece
nigiri. The list of appetizers was short and only had 4 things that didn't have pork, chicken or beef. Because I didn't have a hearty lunch at work, I ordered all 4 "
pescatarian friendly" appetizers:
edamame, shrimp spring rolls, crab
wontons and veggie
gyoza.
Even after all that food I was still starving on my way home! Thank goodness I had some snacks in the pantry to fill me up, because I was way too lazy to break out the pots and pans. I found my stash of Japanese snacks from my trip to Japan...jackpot! I opened a package of rice crackers aka
senbei and devoured them. It got me thinking about the fresh
senbei that I had when I visited the
Buddha in Kamakura:

These rice crackers are super
delish when you get them fresh hot off the grill. The savory combination of soy sauce, rice vinegar and dry seaweed just melt in your mouth. Well, since Japan is over 6000 miles away from my home I had to settle for the mass produce version, which hit the spot. Yes, I finished the entire bag ;o)
Love edemame, i could eat that everyday on not get sick of it.
