did someone say apple cider donuts?
Jing and I went out to Charlottesville, VA to go apple picking this past sunday. After an hour drive and a climb up the mountains we finally got to the orchard. It was jam packed! People were running everywhere with bags of apples. Before we went on our picking adventure, we decided to grab some hot apple cider and fresh hot donuts.
Let's just say this is not just your ordinary apple cider donut. I've had a few different versions of this donut before growing up and I've loved only one kind for many years. That's from a place in Coltsneck, NJ called Delicious Orchards. What a place! Besides the insanely fresh produce they happen to have an extensive line of baked goods. From pies to danishes to the wonderful "apple cider donut."
Ok....when I took a bite of this donut from Carter's, I was truly drawn by the moist cake-like texture. It was totally different than what I'm used to having for years. This took my taste buds to a whole new level. The cinnamon sugar was not over powering and the donut was light and airy. It was just perfect! I thought of it as a Krispy Kreme hybrid. You guys have to check it out!
